THE relaunch of Newcastle Emlyn Community Market will take place later this month.

The market – formerly LOAF – will be back in the town’s main Mart car park on Friday, March 29 from 9am until noon and to mark the occasion, Carmarthenshire County Council has agreed to free parking that day.

One of those helping promote the new-look market Sara Redman said: “There are so many fantastic local producers around the area and it’s all about the local community supporting each other.

“We are hoping that we will have quite a variety of new stallholders and it will attract people to come into the town.

“People like the country market that’s already there and the idea behind this is to enhance what the town already has and give a chance to promote small, locally-run family businesses.”

“I think the local community want to buy locally and we hope this relaunched market will provide them with plenty of choice and variety.”

Following its initial launch, the market will then be staged on the first and third Friday of every month.

The selection of stalls will include breads from Doughtastic, locally-grown flowers from The Flower Meadow, recycled retro goodies, Rhydlewis trout farm and smoker, wicker baskets, Cath’s vegan kitchen, Oscar’s kitchen which produces jam and preserves and Cynfyw Care Farm, from Abercych.

A Clynfyw spokesman said: “We support vulnerable adults to have meaningful experiences, working in therapeutic ways on the land. Our many projects include making apple juice from our orchards, growing vegetables, rearing pigs for meat, adopting ex-battery hens to produce eggs and making charcoal from our woodland.

“Selling our produce at the local market will provide further opportunity for work experience in the community.”
