ENVIRONMENTAL campaigners in Cardigan will be setting out on the Earth March tomorrow (Saturday, March 16).
The event has been organised by Rebellion Extinction activists from all over the country, planning to converge on the capital for a 'week of rebellion' beginning April 15.
It has already started from Land’s End and includes a 70-year-old grandma, with all the marchers keen to raise awareness of the climate emergency.
The marchers will leave from Cardigan tomorrow (Saturday, March 16) and will be walking to Newcastle Emlyn. They will gather at Bara Menyn Cafe on St Mary's Street at 9.30am and leave from outside Cardigan Castle at 10.15am.
They will converge with another large group starting from Bristol on March 30.
A group spokesman said: “The event is being organised via Facebook. Some are doing the whole journey, others are co-ordinating to do legs of the journey.
“In Cardigan this Saturday a leg of the march will begin, and an inflatable earth will be taken and passed along at each leg of the journey, to be carried all the way to London.
“We are asking the public to organise welcome parties in their towns for the marchers. Also meals, showers or overnight accommodation offers would be gratefully received.
“Those interested are asked to look on Facebook for the event page to let a march organiser know that they plan to attend. Otherwise, just come out and support.”
After the Newcastle Emlyn leg, the following day sees the march head to Llandysul, and then from Llandysul to Carmarthen on March 18.
Other stops en route include Llanelli, Swansea, Port Talbot, Bridgend, Cardiff, Newport before arriving in Bristol on March 20 and then on to London.
