THE Cardigan area is not out of the woods just yet with another severe weather warning for gale-force winds again issued for the weekend.

Winds are expected to pick up from around 4am on Saturday (March 16) with gusts up to 70mph being forecast and lasting most of the day, while much of Wales is also under a warning for heavy rain.

A Met office spokesman said: “A developing area of low pressure is expected to track across Northern Ireland, northern England and southern Scotland on Saturday.

“On the southern flank of this system, strong winds are expected, the strongest of these are likely to affect coastal and immediately adjacent regions of the west and south of England and Wales.

“Gusts of 50-60 mph are expected quite widely, with some more exposed locations seeing wind gusts of around 70 mph, mainly in coastal areas and just inland.”

Bus and train services may be affected and delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely.

The wind could bring down trees and power line and communities in coastal areas may be affected by spray or large waves.
