A FORMER headteacher of two primary schools in Wales is facing a jail sentence after he admitted child sex offences.

David Watkin Bundock, aged 74, appeared at Swansea crown court today (Monday, March 11) for a plea and trial preparation hearing before Judge Keith Thomas.

Bundock, once the head of Llandysul Primary School, admitted four offences of possessing indecent images of children.

He also admitted attempting to communicate with a child aged under 16 for sexual reasons and, on January 27, 2019, attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

Bundock will be sentenced on March 21 and was remanded in custody until then.

Judge Thomas said it would not be necessary for a probation officer to prepare a report.

The offences are said to have taken place in Carmarthenshire and at his home at Valetta House, Cardiff.

Bundock, who also became headteacher at Cimla primary, went on to become a senior adviser with Ceredigion County Council's education department. In 2004 he was awarded an MBE for services to education in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

At the end of today's hearing he was ordered to immediately register with the police as a sex offender.
