THE problem with large trees in the River Teifi at Cardigan following flooding last year refuses to go away.

Cardigan Town Council has continually raised the issue with Ceredigion Town Council and Natural Resources Wales in an effort to get them moved before they cause damage.

In the latest twist to the on-going saga, Cllr Catrin Miles told a meeting of the town council: “The trees in the Teifi have been cut but then what has been cut has simply been left in the river and will be a danger to canoes and others using the river, especially in the coming months.

“No-one seems to know where the directive came from. The county council and NRW are not in agreement but someone has given the go-ahead.”

Cllr Yvonne O’Neill added: “When the tide is in you cannot see them at all but they are just below the surface and it’s worse now than it was before.”
