THE annual presentation evening for the Tanygroes Welfare Committee took place took place recently at its Café Emlyn base in the village.

The charities and causes supported by the committee this year received cheques from the funds raised over the previous year. A total of £6,600 was raised in 2018, including £500 from the annual tractor run which had been presented to the RNLI new Quay earlier.

Representatives from the charities and causes were present to collect their cheques with the exception of the Alzheimer Society’s officer who unfortunately had suffered a recent family bereavement.

Cheques for £1,000 went to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Wales Air Ambulance and the British Heart Foundation, while £500 went to HUTS Workshop in Newcastle Emlyn, The Emlyn and Tivyside Parkinson’s Support Group and Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi.

Ty Hafan, First Responder Newcastle Emlyn, Talking Books Wales and Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Tregaron 2020 each received £400.

Tanygroes Welfare Committee has been raising money for charities and good causes for the last 11 years and this year’s £6,600 brings the total raised in that time to more than £71,000. It is already working on a programme of events for 2019.
