A CARDIGAN man who was nearly twice the legal drink-drive limit has been banned from then roads for 15 months.
John William Eirwyn Davies, of Maes y Dderwen, Cardigan, was stopped by police while driving a Peugeot on the A487 at Tremain on December 29 last year. A breathalyser gave a reading of 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.
Magistrates banned Davies from driving for 15 months, along with a fine of £530. He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £53 victim surcharge.
