A SERIES of events is being staged to raise funds for Cylch Meithrin Teifi at Newcastle Emlyn.

The cylch, established back in 1973 and the only pre-school educational facility in the town, was originally based at the old council offices at Byryn Derwen in Adpar before moving last year to new premises at the old Vestry on Water Street in Newcastle Emlyn.

Now there are plans to raise funds to help set up an outdoor play area for the kids, while the meithrin also need money for everyday costs such as wages, rent and other bills.

It runs as a non-profit charitable organisation and does not have the money to do this without help.

The first fund-raising event will be taking place on Friday, February 15 with a spinathon outside the Premier store in Sycamore Street from 8am-6pm, where people can make donations.

Parent Rachel Anthony, family and friends will then be taking part in a sponsored walk up Pen y Fan on Saturday, March 2.

Finally, a tractor run is being planned for Saturday, March 16, from the Mart car park at Newcastle Emlyn to the Ffostrasol Arms. For more details contact Marcus Ferraro on 07800 744372.

A spokesman for the meithrin said: “Pre-school education is vitally important in setting the standards for a child's educational and social development. Meithrin has been providing this in our community for the past 45 years.

“We are asking anyone who is able to spare even the smallest amount to please help us in supporting and keeping Cylch Meithrin Teifi open for future generations.”

A fund-raising page has been set up and anyone wishing to donate can go to justgiving.com/crowdfunding/cylch-meithrin-teifi
