A TWO-day strike planned for tomorrow (Tuesday, February 5) and Wednesday by teachers at Cardigan Secondary School has been called off.

Members of the National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) had planned to walk out in an on-going dispute involving allegations of bullying and harassment.

But that industrial action has now been temporarily put on hold as talks continue with the local education authority.

NASUWT staff had already staged a one-day strike at the school at the end of last month to highlight their grievances.

An independent inquiry set up by Ceredigion County Council into the allegations after receiving several complaints found there was no case to answer.

A spokesman for the NASUWT said: “The two-day strike planned for this week has been called off as we have made some progress in discussions with the employer.

“The strike has been called off to facilitate further discussions.”

However, the spokesman added that plans for a three-day strike next week (February 13-15) still remain in place.
