WHO is responsible for clearing the debris at Cardigan Bridge?

The town council is still no nearer finding the answer and is becoming increasingly frustrated. Ceredigion County Council, National Resources Wales (NRW) and Welsh Water have all been contacted but say it is not their job.

Cllr Yvonne O’Neill said: “Who owns the bridge? Is it not Ceredigion and therefore is it not in their interest to ensure it is cleared?”

Cllr Graham Evans said NRW had responsibility for clearing the debris at Llechryd bridge so how was Cardigan bridge any different.

“Maybe it’s a question for our local AM Elin Jones and we should ask her for assistance. We could easily still be sat here in two years’ time still wondering,” said Cllr Evans.

Cllr John Adams-Lewis added: “Whoever is responsible it needs sorting. It is to their benefit the water flows freely because there will be a big problem if something goes wrong.”

The town council will again go back to Ceredigion County Council to try to get an answer.
