A CAMPAIGN has been launched to crack down on speeding motorists through the village of Blaenporth.
For years residents have lobbied for drivers to slow down as they travel along the straight stretch of the A487 in Blaenporth.
Now community councillor Robin Young has leafleted homes in the village asking for volunteers to take part in a community speedwatch scheme.
"The scheme would be supported by the police and training given to use the equipment," said Cllr Young.
"We'd need around 10 volunteers to make the scheme viable."
Any drivers caught speeding by the volunteers' camera would receive a warning letter from police. In cases where this is blatantly ignored and evidence of repeat or excessive offences is collated, enforcement and prosecution follow.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Cllr Young on 01239 811492.
