A DRUG-driver who was also caught in possession of drugs in Ceredigion has been banned from the roads for nearly two years and ordered to carry out community work.

Miles Jeffrey Ames, of Fairfield Green, Churchinford, Taunton, Somerset, was stopped while driving a Transit van on the B4338 at Synod Inn on June 16 last year.

The 23-year old pleaded guilty to two charges of drug-driving when he appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre. He admitted testing positive for both cocaine and ketamine.

Ames also admitted driving without insurance and possessing 2.749 grams of ketamine, 4.12 grams of cannabis resin and a quantity of Xanax tablets, a controlled class C drug.

He was banned from driving for 23 months and reordered to carry out 40 hours unpaid community work. Ames must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
