NEW Quay lifeboat crew was called out to save two animals – a dog and a sheep – in separate rescues on New Year’s Eve.
The station was first paged at 1.10pm after a dog had fallen over a cliff between Tresaith and Aberporth.
Murray the dog was found to have broken one of his front legs and was taken to Abeporth in the inshore lifeboat where he was handed over to the Coastguard rescue team.
Then, on the way back to New Quay, the crew were tasked to a second incident by Milford Haven Coastguard.
A sheep had fallen over an 80ft cliff near Llangrannog and had swum to nearby rocks and was stranded. With concerns that the owner may attempt a rescue, the lifeboat was requested to assist.
A crew member lassoed the sheep and it was then hauled aboard the lifeboat and had a ride back to Llangrannog where it was handed over to HM Coastguard.
