CARDIGAN Girl Guides has received a massive boost with a cheque for more than £3,700 from the Co-op’s Local Community Fund.
The Co-op Local Community Fund gives money to local causes, helping to bring people together.
“We give preference to projects run by small, local organisations that make a real difference to people in their community,” said Ruth Rowland, who is the Pioneer Member for the scheme in the Newcastle Emlyn area.
Members of the Co-op spend their money in the local store and a percentage of that is reinvested in the Local Community Fund and the chosen groups within a 15-mile radius.
“Every quarter, we pay out the money that has been built up and members can go on line and choose which cause it goes to,” said Ruth
Co-op members have raised more than £20m for local causes over the years, benefiting thousands of projects
