BARCLAYS Bank shut its doors for the final time at Newcastle Emlyn on Friday (November 16).

And it did not take long for all trace of the bank to disappear from the high street.

The bank closed at midday, the cash machine was taken out mid-afternoon and by 5pm all external signs had been removed.

“By 8pm you would never have guessed that it had ever been a bank except for the faint Barclays name left in the dust above the door,” said one local resident.

The closure of Barclays means that only Lloyds now remains open in the town and that will close in January.
