South Wales Women’s Hockey League Division 1: Cardiff and Mets 3rds 4-0 Milford Haven

THIS weekend Milford Ladies were on the road again, travelling to Cardiff to play the in-form team in the division - Cardiff and Met 3rds.

Milford Haven started well and more then held own in the first half but crucially, Cardiff did manage a goal just before the break.

In the second half Cardiff upped their game, fitting of a team sitting on top of the league, and showed what a well driller team they were with Milford goalkeeper Emilie Zatac forced into making a number of quality saves.

Zatac was rightly adjudicated Milford’s player of the match, but in the end the pressure told and the home side scored three more goals to seal an eventual 4-0 win.

Milford’s captain Rachel Coe stated “This was definitely a wake up call to our team.

“There are no excuses regarding our defeat even though we played against a very good team. We will bounce back from this and I must again praise the determination of the girls, especially the younger members who will definitely learn from this.”

This week, Milford are back on their home astroturf when they host Gowerton, with push back at 2.30pm.

The result on Saturday means Milford will head into that clash in fifth place, still a good start in their first season in Division 1 since winning promotion.

Milford Haven squad: Emilie Zatac, Meg Evans, Alice Wonnacott, Vicki John, Kate Farr, Emma Summons, Charlotte Davies, Cerys Jones, Rachel Coe, Megan Jones, Anja, Ackerman, Kacey Arran, Cerys Dunn.
