A NEWCASTLE Emlyn restaurant owner is offering a free slap-up Christmas meal to a community hero and their friends as her way of saying a big thank you for all their efforts.

Winnie’s at No.11 owners Stephanie Hixon-Hand and husband Wayne want to reward one lucky person from the surrounding area who has contributed most to the local community with a meal for up to eight people.

The winner is being decided by a people’s vote on the restaurant’s Facebook site.

Steph said: “Since opening Winnie’s nearly two years ago I have met some of the most inspirational people, the community we live in is home to special individuals that unknowingly change people’s lives,.

“Winnies would like to take this opportunity to allow our followers to nominate that special person or group that you can see has made a difference, and gone above and beyond to make changes in our community.

“Maybe your neighbours have gone above and beyond, maybe a small organisation has helped the community in a special way, perhaps a child that has raised money for charity by doing a good deed?

“I see how amazing this community is and how so many people are doing different things to help others and I think it would be nice to give something back to an unsung hero and this is one way of doing that.

“We have just seen how the community has rallied round to help out since the flooding and it is such a privilege to live in such an area.”

To nominate your chosen community superstar and why they deserve to win the prize at the Sycamore Street restaurant, go to the Winnie’s Facebook site and the winner will be the person with the most likes.

The winner will be announced on the last Monday in November.
