A SERVICE entitled ‘Remembrance of Heroes’ to commemorate the end of the First World War or the Great War as it is sometimes called is taking place at Cardigan Castle on Saturday, November 3 (1pm).

Those taking part include local cadets from the Navy, Army and Air Force. Also attending will be the Cardigan Branch of The Royal British Legion. Cor Meibion Club Rugby will sing songs popular with the troops at that time.

On display from the castle wall will be a camouflage net of more than 100 poppies made from plastic bottles by Year 5 and 6 from Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi and a Silent Soldier.

The idea for the event and main organiser is Lieutenant Alun Richards of Dyfed and Glamorgan ACF, who together with his wife Anji have worked extremely hard to ensure that the service is one that truly remembers the fallen of the First World War, but not forgetting all who have paid the ultimate price in wars and conflicts since then.

With thanks to CADW for allowing the use of the excellent venue, and castle staff for their help. Unfortunately, due to limited numbers this service is not open to members the public.
