A CARDIGAN man has been returned to prison less than a week after his release.

Pablo Jason Oram, of Felin Ban, pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner, on a basis, when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates from custody on Tuesday, October 16.

The court heard that Oram, 34, accepted that items may have hit the mother of his children while he was throwing things around looking for his medication at their Cardigan home on October 15.

In interview he stated he had not intended to injure her, but accepted he had been reckless, which resulted in an injury to her eye.

He added that his girlfriend grabbed him as he was throwing items around, and he pushed her away, which would have caused injury to her arms.

The court heard that the victim did not support the prosecution and had not made a statement to the police.

Abul Hussain, prosecuting, told the bench that Oram was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison in September for assaulting a police officer, and had been released on licence five days earlier.

The bench heard that he would be recalled to prison as a result of the latest offence.

Rebecca Carter, defending, said: “He was throwing items around while trying to find his medication. He was not intending to harm the complainant.

“He accepts pushing her away, using excessive self-defence. He will be recalled until December.

“He wishes to offer his apologies to the court. He did not intend to hurt his partner. He is very upset. She is the mother of his children.”

Magistrates sentenced Oram to 12 weeks in custody, to run concurrently with his recall sentence.

He was also ordered to pay a £115 surcharge and £85 court costs.
