A PLEA for a litter bin to be placed between Napier Gardens and Maeshenffordd in Cardigan has been rejected.

Cllr Marilyn Farmer made the request to Ceredigion County Council after appeals from local residents who are sick of having to deal with rubbish and dog mess in the area.

“Residents in the area are asking for the bin. People walk their dogs around there and pick up the mess but there is no bin there and they don’t take it home and just leave it,” said Cllr Farmer.

“I know there is the cost of the bin and having to empty it but I even have residents happy to empty the bin itself if one is put there.”

County councillor Elaine Evans said she had asked for a bin to be placed there before but Ceredigion “was not interested.”

“People at the bottom of Maeshenfford go out to clear the rubbish and dog mess. It’s not right and there should be a bin there,” she added.

There are 70 rubbish bins around Cardigan and Cllr John Adams-Lewis added: “If we could move a bin from somewhere else it will not costs anything or create more work. Let’s look at the bins around town and see what we can do.”
