THE hunt for a possible missing kayaker in the sea off Cardigan was called off yesterday after an extensive search.
The alarm was raised yesterday morning (Monday August 14) when a walker on the coastal path spotted a kayak washed up on rocks and contacted the Coastguard.
Both Cardigan’s RNLI lifeboats were launched at around 11.30am from their Poppit Sands station and carried out a thorough search in the Cemaes Head area.
The kayak was found but there was no trace of anyone in the water and with no reports of anyone missing, the Coastguard suspended the search prior to receiving any fresh information.
