THE Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are to visit the Tivyside area next month.

Their Royal Highnesses will visit businesses at Eglwyswrw and Llandysul as part of the couple's annual summer visit to Wales between July 2 and July 6.

The Duchess of Cornwall will visit the famous Dyfed Shire Horse Farm at Eglwyswrw.

Farm manager Mark Cole said: "We are very pleased, in our 25th anniversary year, to welcome HRH the Duchess of Cornwall to meet our Dyfed Shires - the bloodline having been started by my grandfather John Rees Lewis almost 40 years ago.

"HRH will hear about the story of a Welsh family that have farmed the same Eglwyswrw land since 1849 and will learn about how the family bred and sold Celt the Drumhorse to the Household Cavalry 10 years ago.

"She will take a ride in our shire horse drawn wagonette and will name our newest Shire foal - the first born on the farm in five years."

The Prince of Wales will visit award-winning family-run Da Mhile Distillery, at Glynhynod Farm, Llandysul, the first organic distillery in the UK approved by the Soil Association.

The distillery makes a variety of high-quality limited batch organic spirits and liquers and its Botanical Gin was last year named best organic alcoholic drink at the Soil Association BOOM Awards.

The distillery was established by John Savage-Onstwedder, one of the founders of the renowned Teifi Farmhouse Cheese and an organic farmer.

During the visit to Wales TRHs will be based in His Royal Highness's house near Llandovery.

A Clarence House spokesperson said: “The Prince and The Duchess are really looking forward to their annual summer visit to Wales where they will be celebrating key anniversaries for the National Health Service, the Heart of Wales railway line and the 90th anniversary of Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisation.

"Their Royal Highnesses relish the opportunity to meet members of the community who are making a difference to Welsh life.'
