A NEW Quay man has appeared in court to deny two charges of alleged benefit fraud.
Alan David Sutcliffe, of Plas-y-wern, Gilfachrheda, New Quay, is accused of failing to notify Ceredigion County Council of a change of circumstances in relation to claiming housing benefit between February 10, 2014 and March 6, 2017.
He also faces a charge that between April 6, 2014 and March 2, 2017, he failed to notify the Department of Work and Pensions regarding a change of circumstances relating to employment and support allowance.
The 58-year-old defendant appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre where he pleaded not guilty to both offences.
A previous arrest warrant for his arrest for failing to appear before the court was withdrawn and Sutcliffe was granted unconditional bail to appear again for trial on June 25.
