SHARON Shannon returns with her brand-new studio album Sacred Earth and will perform her new material at Cardigan’s Theatr Mwldan on Thursday, May 17 (7.30pm) as part of her latest tour.

Sharon is a musician who likes to surprise. This will be her first new studio album in three years and her 10th to date.

While she is best known for her arrangements of traditional Irish tunes and compositions, she has always been eager to explore new styles, and to meet and work with other musicians.

Her Irish influences are cheerfully mixed in with often unexpected styles from around the world, including – for the first time - Africa.

The button accordion player from Co Clare has recorded and toured with Bono, Sinead O’Connor, Jackson Browne, The Chieftains, The Waterboys, Willie Nelson, Nigel Kennedy, Alison Krauss and Shane MacGowan.

“Irish musician Sharon Shannon has carved out an impressive career through verve and talent. She gets a strong, almost ‘vocal’ tone from her accordions; her instrumental technique is remarkable, yet looks effortless; and her smile could light up a small fishing village by itself,” writes The Guardian.

The Irish news says “‘Her music is authentic, adventurous, globally respected and will put a smile on your face.

"It was no coincidence that the new Sharon Shannon CD landed on my desk the same day that the good weather arrived. It’s as if her music transmits ultra violet light which not only gets the feet tapping but also tickles the endorphin.”

Tickets for Sharon Shannon are £18 and are available to book from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online or via the Mwldan App.

The People Tree pop-up restaurant will be offering a three-course menu prior to the show, seating at 6pm. For more information about the menu and how to book, visit http://www.mwldan.co.uk/people-tree
