A MOTORIST was over the drink-drive limit when stopped on an unclassified road just off the main A487 at Tanygroes.

Thomas James Mason, of Maenygroes, New Quay, was stopped by police on April 24 and found to have 49 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty when he appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre and was banned from driving for 12 months.

Mason was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
