CARDIGAN welcomes nine-piece Brighton and London-based band Resonators, performing at Small World Theatre on Friday, May 18 with support from the mighty Maya Mitten.

Resonators are at the forefront of the UK dub scene, forging their love of 70’s roots reggae with diverse contemporary influences to deliver their own exciting sound.

Fronted by dual vocal powerhouse Faye Houston and Kassia Zermon, this nine-piece takes us on a sonic excursion which reaches from the light and soulful, to the dark and gritty.

Ten years on from their beginning, their objective is more relevant than ever, to bring something reflective and positive to the world. Through the formidable craftsmanship of dub engineer Darren Jamtone at the controls, Resonators offer a powerful, psychedelic and euphoric experience both on record and on stage.

Resonators have gained notoriety for their awesome live shows, as well as support slots for greats such as The Skatalites, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Jimmy Cliff, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Horace Andy to name but a few.

In the winter of 2016 Resonators released their third album, ‘Imaginary People’, “nine tracks of beautifully crafted, exquisite roots reggae”. (rootsreggaereview.com).

Now, 2018 sees them follow this up with two 12” releases (Wah Wah 45s) of previously unreleased material. Suited to the current global climate, the music gets darker and heavier. The message remains one of optimism, however, and the capacity for love and growth to conquer.

To launch these new releases, Resonators will conduct a UK tour, beginning with a headline show at The Jazz Café, London and taking in a visit to Cardigan.

Having previously played legendary venues such as Brixton Academy and Brighton Dome, as well as major festivals across the UK and Europe (eg Glastonbury, Dour, Outlook), highlights from 2017 include “best live music” award-winning show of the Brighton Fringe festival, and O2 Forum in Kentish Town featuring Mykal Rose with Black Uhuru, Mad Professor and Coxsone Sound.

Resonators have received continued radio support across their three album releases and various single releases with airplay on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6Music and a live session on Radio 4’s ‘Loose Ends’.
