A local navigator is celebrating after her wins at the Welsh Association of Motor Clubs (WAMC) dinner recently held at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells.

Jade Phillips of Plwmp, and her driver Vince Davies of Saron near Llandysul were awarded several prestigious awards for their achievements during 2017, and this in their first year of stage rallying together.

The pair, who competed in seven stage championship rounds last year – from the Wydean to the Harry Flatters in Brecon – were class winners and were awarded the Jack Romain Newcomers Award (selected by a panel from the WAMC for those new to stage rallying), the Brian Dennis Welsh Historic Championship, the Jelf Clubman’s Forestry Championship and the Restruct Welsh Mixed Surface Championship. Jade was also presented the Overall Co-driver of 2017 award by the Llandysul Motor Club.

“Being presented with all of these awards was a big achievement and a huge surprise. My family and friends have been so supportive all season and were nearly in tears as they were so overjoyed,” said Jade who is grateful for all the support she has received.

Her driver Vince, is an experienced rally driver at night events and stages, and Jade hopes they can build on last year’s success this season.

Jade, who is a familiar face in local rallies including the Cilwendeg and the Classic Tracks where she finished first in class and third overall in 2013, says none of this would be possible without the support from Eurig ‘Bryngwyn’ Evans, David Marchant, John Ramsey Davies and Andrew Davies and their families.
