CONCERN has been expressed at the amount of litter and rubbish along the main A487 past Cardigan.

In a letter to Cardigan Town Council, resident James Coughlan said it was good to see the ‘fantastic job’ done in clearing the overgrown shrubs and trees along the road but pointed to the ‘depressing amount of rubbish and its negative impact on the environment’.

Tyres, plastic bottles, glassware and other rubbish can be seen littering the roadside.

Mr Coughlan wrote: “Both Aberporth and Newcastle Emlyn are making a big drive to reduce plastic waste. This is the gateway to Cardigan and clearing it up would be a positive step.”

Cllr John Adams-Lewis said he has also received complaints about the state of the by-pass.

The rubbish has become much more visible since the trees were cleared and councillors will raise the matter with Ceredigion County Council.
