A local business man from Llandysul feels that the town needs an economical boost and so far, the social media tool, Facebook is proving popular in doing just that. Gary Reynolds, owner of Gary the Butcher / Gary y Cigydd on the High Street is using his Facebook page to promote not only his own business but other businesses in the town.

‘ Basically, since I started my business a year and a half ago, I started a social media page to promote my business and I didn’t realise how far reaching it was. I happened to put a post on the page saying that the banks were closing in the town and just under 6000 people saw that post, and then I thought, if that’s the case, why don’t I try and promote other businesses on there too,’ explained Gary who uses social media to promote his pies and cooked meats.

‘ During the recent international rugby games I promoted my Welsh Beef and Irish Guiness pies on –line and people would come to the butchers to buy them having seen my advertisements, posts and pictures. It works very well,’ said Gary.

Gary, a native of Drefach Felindre added: ‘I think we’ve all got to change our ways in business and adapt. Social media is an extra tool and is a free advertising medium. I recently popped a post on myFacebook wall promoting Ty Gwallt, the hairdressers and was seen over 3500 times. It really is that powerful.’

Gary thinks that Llandysul town is unique, with Cariad Glass, the Arcade, Tregroes Waffles and the Llandysul Paddlers enticing people to the area.

‘ I hope that people will realise that Llandysul town has so much to offer and that there’s so much going on here, said Gary, whose motto is giving the thumbs up to the future of Llandysul town.
