The perfect antidote to a bleak February is all set to get people singing as Narberth’s A Cappella Voice Festival (NAVF) returns this weekend.

From February 15-16, you can enjoy outstanding singing performances and take part in singing workshops from around the world at the Queens Hall in Narberth.

The weekend is packed with a vibrant and exciting range of singing workshops including Irish folk, Indian, Corsican, Georgian (the country rather than the historical era!), choral activism, looping, singing clinic with Molara and Welsh language harmony.

Saturday at 5pm sees the first ever Singing Feast that will feed your belly as well as your soul with food from Syria, the Yemen, Morocco, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, and features rousing toasts and of course some singing.

Following the feast, moving, inspiring and joyful vocal heights will be reached at the NAVF Concert on Saturday evening with performances from Semi Toned (barbershop harmony), Ye Vagabonds (Irish folk) and Durga Ramakrishnan (Indian).

Semi-Toned is the internationally famous all-male a cappella choir from Exeter University who won the Voice Festival, the BBC2 The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain UK and to be finalists of Sky 1 TV show, ‘Sing! Ultimate A Cappella.’

The hall will be also filled with the sounds of India with a performance from Durga; and with the beautiful tones of Ye Vagabonds (Irish folk).

This Irish duo were big winners at the 2019 RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards scooping Best Folk Group, Best Folk Album and Best Traditional Folk Track.

The festival ends, on Sunday with a heartfelt performance from Span Arts’ Côr Pawb and Caring Choirs followed by the launch of a new singing project Raise Your Voice Pembrokeshire.

This sees an extraordinary one-off attempt to form the most represented multi-generational choir – bringing people aged from 0 to 99 together to sing in unison and raise funds for local youth and dementia charities.

“We have many examples of how participation in singing events can bring communities across Pembrokeshire together, and lift your soul, fill your heart and boost your health and wellbeing” says Molara, singing project manager at Span Arts.

“The Narberth A Capella Voice Festival is a prime example.”
