CARDIGAN’S Theatr Mwldan will be screening a live broadcast of The Royal Shakespeare Company’s fresh interpretation of Measure For Measure on Tuesday, August 27 (7pm).

When a young novice nun is compromised by a corrupt official, who offers to save her brother from execution in return for sex, she has no idea where to turn for help.

When she threatens to expose him, he tells her that no one would believe her.

Shakespeare wrote this play in the early 1600s, yet it remains astonishingly resonant today. Artistic director, Gregory Doran, directs this new production.

“This fresh, insightful version of a morally murky play finds the RSC on flying form,” says the Mail on Sunday, while The Times writes: “'Gregory Doran’s lucid compelling production....he has a way of making classical theatre excitingly simple and vivid...a luminous clarity.”

“Gregory Doran’s assured production offers a perfectly judged portrait of public hypocrisy and seething sexuality,” adds The Guardian.

Tickets for RSC: Measure For Measure are £12.50 (£11.50) and are available now from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online at mwldan.co.uk or via the Mwldan app.
