FAMILIES are being invited to join Mr Magnolia on his wacky adventures at a great outdoor theatre event at Colby Woodland Gardens.

The character, created by Quentin Blake – who is best known for his artwork in Roald Dahl books – will be on a quest to find his second boot.

And he'll do it all with an old rooty-toot trumpet, fat owls learning to hoot, a dinosaur and two sisters who play the flute.

Span Arts are teaming up with the National Trust gardens, near Amroth, to bring this brilliant family production to Pembrokeshire, as part of an extensive national UK tour by Folksy Theatre.

There will also be a free pre-show theatre workshop, pre-booking essential.

Filled with music, puppetry, wonderful characters, and audience interaction, this show – on Saturday August 3 – is one not to be missed.

Colby Woodland Garden’s manager Steve Whitehead, said: “Colby Woodland Garden is a special place for play with acres for visitors to enjoy and explore.

"We’re excited to be teaming up with Span Arts to welcome Mister Magnolia and his theatrical adventures to the gardens.”

The production is suitable for all the family, and for children aged four and over. The show starts at 6.30pm and runs for 60 minutes.

There is free entry to the gardens after 4.30pm with theatre tickets.

Picnic food will be on sale.

People are asked to bring their own chairs and picnic blankets.

The free theatre workshop, being run by professional actors from the show, is for children aged from four to 11 and takes place between 5pm and 6pm.

As places for this workshop are limited, booking is essential.

Tickets are available from the Span Arts box office on 01834 869323; online span-arts.ticketsolve.com or at National Trust Colby Woodland Garden.

Advance tickets are £12 adult, £10 child, £38 family and on the door adult £15 and child £12. Online sales will close at 10am on the day of the event.
