SAUNDERSFOOT Footlights' next production, Rose's Garden, opens on Monday.

The show – another brand new script from director Allison Butler – follows on from Footlights' last original production, Pingleford Players Proudly Present, which won the 2017 NODA award for Best Musical.

The show focuses on Rose, played by Terri Harrison, an elderly lady who moves into Cedar View Care Home.

Here are a host of characters, including the delightfully-eccentric Beattie (Lynne Gammage) and her dour sister Maud (Sarah Stanton). There's Enid (Heidi Griffiths) who would melt any heart; mischievous Bert (Nick Wears) with his side-kick Arnie (Andy Griffiths) and hopeless snob Charles (Paul Fifield).

It soon transpires that Rose has a secret buried in her past and carers, Tom (Jordan Dickin) and Emma (Megan Pricketts), are also hiding something.

The tale is a heart-warming one about a clandestine past, a lost love and how true friendship can change your life.

As with every Footlights show, music and dance help to tell the story and Rose's Garden is peppered through with wonderful songs from the West End and Broadway, brought to life by musical director Clive Raymond and a live band.

Footlights were also delighted with a visit from Maggie Patterson, principal of London's Pineapple Performing Arts School, who is choreographing the first act showstopper.

Rose's Garden will be on stage at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, from Monday to Saturday, May 27 to June 1. Doors open at 7pm, curtain up at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10 from saundersfootamdram.co.uk, the Regency Hall and Little & Large in Saundersfoot and Ocky White Travel, Haverfordwest.
