THE Cilgerran Players will be performing The Land of Green Ginger for their winter production.
This stage adaptation of a children’s novel was first published in 1937 and deserves to be far better known.
It is a delightfully exotic fairy-tale adventure taking us through faraway eastern lands, with plenty of memorable characters, bags of verbal humour and slapstick, occasional magic and more than a little touch of pantomime.
The village children (around 20 of them at the latest count} are playing some sizeable roles and the adults, as usual, strut their stuff as baddies or crazies.
Performances will take place during half-term week: Thursday, Friday and Saturday February 28 to March 2 at 7.30 pm in Cilgerran Village Hall.
Tickets priced at £7 and £4, to include refreshments, are on sale in the village stores and telephone reservations may be made by ringing 01239 615909.
