CARDIGAN’S Mwldan Film Society will present the gritty animation Tehran Taboo (certificate 15) on the Sunday, February 17 (6.05pm).
This feature follows the lives of single mother, Pari, who must sell herself for sex, Sara, who seems to have the perfect family life and Barbak, who is frantically trying to raise money for an illegal operation to restore the virginity of Donya.
They become intertwined and they discover their lives are more alike than they think.
“In this multi-stranded rotoscoped narrative, crackling with tension and bleak comedy, musicians and prostitutes find ways around the strict laws of their country,” says The Guardian
“This animated slice-of-life set in Iran’s capital blends an eye-opening story with eye-candy visuals,” writes Time Out magazine.
