THE first Cellar Bards event of 2019 in Cardigan will be an open mic special featuring spoken word performances from many talented local writers of poetry, short fiction and novels – and there may be a song or two as well.

It’s on Friday, January 25, in the Castle Café Cellar Bar, Cardigan. Doors and the bar open at 7.30pm, the event starts at 8pm. Entry is £3.

Cellar Bards host, poet Dave Urwin, said: “We have some very talented writers in this area – poets and prose writers and it is always a pleasure to listen to a variety of their work on the open mic.

“All are made welcome and as always we provide the opportunity for writers of all ages and styles to come and read or perform their work in a friendly and relaxed environment. We are not exclusively spoken word either, as there is always room for a song or two as well.”

Open mic spots are available for writers of poetry, short stories, micro-fiction and novels (maximum five minutes each). Just put your name down at the door if you want to read. Or go along to listen to a great variety of spoken word performances.

The Cellar Bards meet on the last Friday of each month. A full programme of guest readings is planned for the rest of the year. See The Cellar Bards Facebook page for more information.
