Alfred Hitchcock’s classic spy thriller, The 39 Steps, brilliantly and hilariously recreated as the smash hit Olivier Award Winning Best New Comedy comes to Aberystwyth Arts Centre from February 19 to 21 at 7.30pm with a special mid-week matinee.

Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s Castaway Community Theatre’s hilarious production follows the incredible adventures of handsome hero Richard Hannay, as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women. With over 20 adults from the local community this production builds on their recent classics ‘Allo, Allo’ and ‘Hi De Hi!’

Production Co-ordinator Richard Hull said: “It’s fantastic that so many people from our local community have the opportunity to present such a famous story under the caring direction of David Blumfield, who has been at the helm of this Arts Centre company for more than 20 years. The play shares the plot and characters with the Hitchcock film. However, the play is a more comic treatment of the story, in the style of Monty Python compared to the original and more serious film. It promises to be a cracking entertainment, with live music and a kaleidoscope of characters bought to life by the talents of Aberystwyth town and gown.”
