The group has already organised three successful talks and more are scheduled, ie Wednesday, 18 March at 7.30 ˆ Rosie Davies re. Gerald of Wales; Wednesday, 8 April at 7.30 ˆ The Revd. Towyn Jones re. Myths & Legends of West Wales. In addition, there will be field trips to sites of historical interest in the area.
An important part of the group‚s activities is gathering information and artefacts relating to village history. In particular, we are looking for old photos, cine and video film. If anyone has old cine or video footage of events in the village, we should love to hear from you. Films will be transferred to DVD format and the donor will be given a copy; so Œrootle‚ in your attics and see if you can help.
We are also aware that what happens today is tomorrow‚s history, so we shall be making sure all village events are recorded for posterity.
Next year, we are planning a major exhibition commemorating the visit of major figures in the suffragette movement to St Dogmaels. We would welcome contributions to this. Was your grandmother involved ?
