A day to remember with joy and without exaggeration, a tiring but great time was had by all!

This charitable event was aimed at raising money for Cancer Research UK and Ward 10 Withybush Hospital.

On Sunday 12th July starting at six in the morning and despite a deluge of rain just prior to the start, the weather was kind, sunny with a light cooling breeze – ideal for this type of event. The bed was pushed at an average speed of 3.5 miles per hour. Stops along the way provided opportunities to do some `focussed’ money collection.

Using a relay system, more than forty enthusiastic people from Newport took part in the event. Some completed the whole twenty five and half miles.

Over thirty people accompanied the bed on the final three mile stretch into Newport which was an inspiring spectacle.

The on the day collection of money amounted to £1,073.69. Pre and post event sponsorship will most certainly add to the total sum raised. At the end of the month the organisers will be in a position to announce the total amount raised for the bed push. The participants would also wish to express their sincerest thanks to all motorists who kindly donated money as they passed by. Diolch i bawb!
