Open Evening Explosions in laboratories, puzzles to solve, foods to taste, quizzes to answer, strength to measure and a variety of opportunities to test skills and knowledge were on offer at Ysgol Bro Gwaun’s Open Evening, on Thursday, 15th October.

Parents, pupils and friends from the Family of Schools and wider community came to Ysgol Bro Gwaun, to see the School at work. Visitors were taken on a tour of the School by Sixth Form pupils, who were also able to answer any questions asked by parents or pupils.

In the classrooms, the gym, workshops and laboratories, staff, Year 7 pupils and pupils from other year groups were on hand to answer queries and to assist the primary school pupils (and some brave parents) as they carried out the various activities.

In her address at the end of the evening, which followed musical items by the Choir and the Jazz Band, Ms Wright, the Headteacher stressed the importance of home and school working closely together, to ensure the best possible education for all children.

It was a pleasure to see so many people attend the Evening, and the School would like to thank all those involved in its success. The next transition day will be based in the Technology department.

Cheerleading Kayleigh Havard, Year 11, is now a member of the Red Kites Cheerleading team, the official cheerleaders for the Llanelli Scarlets Rugby Team, at Parc-y-Scarlets Llanelli.

On the 10th October, Kayleigh performed in the stadium at the European Heineken Cup match against Brive, and Kayleigh will be performing again in the Scarlets v’s Dragons Magners Cup game on 23rd October.

Rugby Ysgol Bro Gwaun went down to Milford hoping for a win. The first try was scored by Captain, George Williams with the help of Aled James. Milford then got a try back followed by another try from George Williams. This came from a great run from Jac Evans with all hands threw the backs; both converted by Niall Kinsella. Milford got two quick tries and Bro Gwaun worked hard to get our third try from Aled James, but yet again Milford came back to be in the lead. The 4th try came from Jack Ford. Milford came back to get two tries and win the game.

The final result was 28 – 35 to Milford. Well done, boys.
