IEUAN Jones from Llandysul, west Wales has been named the Most Promising Trainee Civil Engineer in the prestigious Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) Southern awards programme.

Ieuan joined Hertfordshire-based VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd in September 2012. Having just graduated with a first class honours Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, he continued to demonstrate a passion for learning, whilst recognising that this is enhanced by practical, hands-on engineering experience. Over the last three years he has had the opportunity to work on one of London’s many infrastructure projects.

David Mutter, Project Director at VolkerFitzpatrick, commented: “Over the last three years Ieuan has developed into a very mature and valued member of the team, earning respect from both his own team and work colleagues. He has a passion for engineering, an engaging approach to learning and never turns down an opportunity to take on board new responsibilities and challenges. He is certainly a worthy winner of this award.”

The CECA Southern Awards for Recruitment & Training are presented to trainee civil engineers, apprentices and lifetime achievers in recognition of exceptional performance and dedication in their chosen careers. Ieuan received an engraved cup, certificate and cheque for £500 at the CECA (Southern) Annual Dinner held at the Lancaster London Hotel.
