Art lovers in West Wales now have the opportunity to meet an internationally known ceramic artist from Australia who is spending a month in Newcastle Emlyn.

Dan Elborne from Toowoomba in Queensland has just completed a Masters Degree in Ceramics at The University of Southern Queensland. He is now spending a month at the studio of Newcastle Emlyn artist, Helen Elliott, where he will be learning painting techniques.

Before coming to West Wales Dan spent time with galleries in Japan and France. He will be heading for Northern Iceland in mid October to put on an exhibition in Olafsfjorour.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting people in West Wales who are interested in ceramics and Australian art,” said Dan. “I’m also looking forward to experiencing proper wet weather, which will be a first for me!”

Helen Elliott, who first met Dan on a residency in Southern France this summer, added: “I’m delighted to be working with someone with so much freshness and originality. I’m also interested in Dan’s insights into my own painting process.”

Dan will be based at Helen’s studio on Carmarthen Road in Newcastle Emlyn until mid October, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm.
