Bittersweet tales of emigration from the port of Cardigan are the topics being tackled by members of Cardigan Youth Theatre.

Llanw a Thrai/Ebb and Flow is a dramatic presentation of what happened on Cardigan’s quays 200 years ago when hundreds of local people left for the New World.

The youngsters tell their stories with passion and humour, a vibrant mix of drama, music and song.

The production at Small World Theatre is part of the 2010 celebrations and has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Youth theatre leaders Rueben Wells and Vanya Constant have been working hard over the last few weeks putting the production together.

“It has been one of the most interesting productions I have worked on,” said Vanya.

“The kids have thoroughly enjoyed it and have learnt about the town’s past and the history of emigration as they go along.”

Tickets for the production on Friday and Saturday (July 2 and 3) at 7.30pm are £5, £3 concessions and can be booked online at whatevertheweatherwales.co.uk or on the door on the night of the performance.
