Pierre Camou, the former president of the French Rugby Federation, has died. He was 72.

L’Equipe reported that Camou, who was in charge of FFR from 2008 to 2016, died on Wednesday in Ispoure, south-western France after a long illness.

Clubs from the French Top 14 league paid tributes to Camou and sent condolences to his family.

Castres posted on Twitter: “The whole of Castres Olympique sends condolences to the family and relatives of Pierre Camou, former president of La @FFRugby, who died at the age of 72 years.”

Toulouse said: “The Toulouse club sends its deepest condolences to the family and relatives of Pierre Camou, former president of La @FFRugby, who died today at the age of 72 years.”

Grenoble said: “FC Grenoble Rugby sends the family and relatives of Pierre Camou, former president of the FFR, their condolences.”
