Rising magnificently to the occasion Newcastle Emlyn brought tears to their opponents' eyes by springing a 16-10 Division 3 West win over unbeaten Llanybydder at Ddol Wyber.
Putting in a herculean effort up front the Red and Whites controlled the game for lengthy periods, and won ample set-piece possession.
Behind the scrum Emlyn had a master tactician in Huw Evans as the outside half broke Llan hearts with raking kicks to the corners and rightly earned the man-of-the-match accolade.
Leading by example skipper Gethin Phillips was hugely influential in the backrow and the pack didn't give an inch throughout.
Fly half Evans nudged his side ahead with a penalty and the lead was increased when centre Gethin Davies brushed through two tackles for a try after good work by fullback Mark Lloyd.
Evans landed his second penalty before the interval and opposite number Barry Thomas replied.

During the second period Llanybydder with No. 8 and skipper Robert Price and Gary Evans in great form, were on top territorially, but the Red and Whites put bodies on the line in a tremendous defensive display.
Skipper Phillips got a second touchdown for the homesters and although Barry Thomas crossed for a late converted try Emlyn held out.
