Champions St Dogmaels appeared to be heading for a blank afternoon against Dewi Stars at the School Field.

Seven days after an emphatic Emrys Morgan Cup win over leaders New Quay it was down to earth with a bump for Cardigan Town as the Magpies crashed 4-2 at home against Llanybydder.

The young Nightingales swarmed all over their opponents from the word go and were four goals clear before Town replied with two late goals.

The visitors were without Luke and Steve Lovell and Calvin Jones, but dominated during the first half when midfielder Paul Symmonds and Louis Lewis netted.

Early in the second period Shane Lovell cleverly lobbed goalkeeper Andrew Fletcher and Jason Jones turned his marker before firing into the bottom corner.

Town hit back with goals by Peter Edwards and Gary Lawrence, but it was a case of too little and too late.

New Quay are top of the pile on goal difference from Maesglas after handing out a 9-0 hammering to Llandysul at Parc Arthur.

The visitors started with nine players and although one arrived late the ten men were up against it throughout.

Leading marksman Chris Atkinson led the Quay rout with four goals, tricky winger Mathew Mousley and David Evans bagged a brace apiece and Gareth Thomas also got in on the act.

Aberaeron had to pull out all the stops against Aberporth at Parcllyn before emerging 3-2 winners thanks to goals by Andy Hibbard, Stewart Smith and Jason Jones.
