FOOTBALL ROUND-UP

Producing a sparkling display, Costcutter League Division One leaders St Dogmaels roared to a fifth consecutive win when brushing aside bottom of the pile Bargod Rangers 10-1 at Parc Puw.

Given that these are early days Saints have turned on the style from the start of the campaign and it is already clear that they are likely to be strong challengers for the title.

To their credit Rangers battled to the end but the Drefach Felindre villagers were outclassed by a side playing attractive one-touch football with everyone contributing to a superb team effort.

It was game, set and match before the interval with the visitors 5-1 ahead and on auto pilot after goals by Chris Morgan, Peter Almond (2) and Rhys Jones (2).

The pacey Jones completed his hat-trick soon after the restart, Louis Harding came off the bench and hit a hat-trick in the space of ten minutes and man-of-the-match Jack Thomas on the right side made it double figures.

New manager and former long-serving goalkeeper Rhydian Morgan has led Crannog to four wins on the trot. The coastal villagers lowered the colours of Cardigan Town, Bargod Rangers and Felinfach before taking on Aberaeron Reserves at Square Field on Saturday.

Aeron gave it their best shot but the visitors prevailed 4-2.

Cardigan Town won for the second time in five outings when coming out on top 3-1 against Felinfach at King George V Playing Field.

The visitors started brightly with ace marksman Kieran Boyes firing them ahead but the young Magpies were in the ascendancy before the break.

Tom Gardner squared matters and two strikes by Llion Williams gave them breathing space. During the second period the homesters continued to rule the roost and were comfortable winners despite midfielder Ben Davies missing a penalty.

Llandysul bounced back from the previous Saturday's narrow defeat at the hands of St Dogmaels as the Swallows pulled out the stops to notch a 2-1 win over a battling Llanboidy outfit at Llandysul Park.

The visitors played some neat football, especially in midfield, and on the evidence of the 90 minutes were perhaps a shade unfortunate not to bank at least a point.

Chris Harries netted for the Teifi Valley villagers during the opening 45 minutes and for the second time this term substitute Richard Evans netted the winner.
