Three teams fight relegation

Although there's still a long way to go until the end of the cricket season the threat of relegation is already real for Llechryd and Crymych in the Pembroke County League.

Defeats on Saturday for Llechryd firsts in Division Two, the second string in the Third Division and also Crymych in Division Four has left the teams languishing in their respective leagues.

Llechryd firsts have a 15-point advantage over second from bottom Stackpole but with a maximum of 30 points up for grabs each week that could soon be whittled away, especially as the Teifisiders face a tough assignment this weekend when visiting second-placed Narberth.

Meanwhile Stackpole are at Pembroke who leapfrogged Llechryd on Saturday when beating their rivals by four wickets and gaining 21 points on them.

After the Narberth game Graham Keen and team-mates are away against bottom of the pile Whitland 2nds and will hope to open their account for the campaign. Seven days later Llechryd host runaway leaders Carew and then it is high-flying Cresselly 2nds at the RDM Oval.

Llechryd 2nds prop up Division Three, their plight compounded at the weekend when losing by seven wickets at Herbrandston, a defeat that left them 36 points from safety.

There is no let-up for them this Saturday when hosting second in the table Carew 2nds and then it is the visit of leaders Pembroke Dock before visiting third from bottom Neyland 2nds.

Crymych fare no better in Division Four where the Preselimen are rock bottom and 31 points from safety before visiting second in the table Llangwm 2nds this Saturday.

After that the north Pembrokeshire villagers visit mid-table Burton 2nds before hosting third from bottom Saundersfoot 2nds at Glandy Cross.
