In general with football clubs worldwide throughout the ages, Newcastle Emlyn, tucked away in the lower Teifi Valley, has experienced ups and downs during a long history – but it was definitely the former that came to the fore on Thursday when the Reds completed a superb season by lifting a fourth trophy.

The final of the Percy Eldridge Cup for reserve teams saw the Teifisiders roar to a 4-2 win over their Crannog counterparts at Ffostrasol to bring the curtain down on a season in which the Parc Emlyn high-flyers also captured the J Emrys Morgan Cup, Easter Monday League Cup and Youth Cup in addition to finishing third in Division One.

After the reserves under player/manager Tom Bluett completed a four-timer first team manager Owain Thomas, who led the club in brilliant fashion, said: "It has been a season to remember and I would personally like to thank all the players, those behind the scenes and also the supporters."

Although Crannog took the lead early on, the Teifisiders were soon buzzing in attack and it was no surprise when front-runner Danny Williams netted an equaliser at the back post and the same player hit a second goal before Jake Shakespeare and midfielder Ashley Stevens saw their side to

victory.
