Llandysul on a high

Completing a South Wales Cricket Association Division One hat-trick, Llandysul sprang a six-wicket win over visitors Bronwydd at Tir-Dref.

The Teifisiders face a big test this weekend when visiting unbeaten second-in-the-table Cowbridge who are currently 16 points in front of third-placed Llandysul.

Five of the top order Bronwydd batsmen made useful contributions with Oliver Furneaux at first wicket down top scorer on 19 but a number of in their ranks failed against accurate bowling and sharp fielding.

As the visitors were dismissed for 119 in the 39th over Luke Swift snapped three wickets for 13 runs off nine overs, four of which were maidens.

Opener Rhydian Harries (22) got Llandysul off to a good start while Ben Edkins at number three was again in good form as he made 45, including five boundaries and Llewellyn Hughes coming in at number four was unbeaten on 34.

The homesters banked 20 points and there were four points for Bronwydd.

Llandysul Seconds emulated the seniors with a 40-run away win over Division Six basement boys Dyffryn Seconds at the Memorial Ground.

Llandysul posted 190-6 in 40 overs to earn 18 points while the home side made 150-6 in the allotted overs and picked up seven points.
